A formal public consultation on the proposed changes to the Local Plan has been approved by Rugby Borough Council’s Cabinet this evening.
The consultation will close on Friday 5th October, which is eight weeks, more than the statutory six week period to allow additional time during the holiday period. Responses will be forwarded to the government planning inspector who will prepare a final report.
The consultation will seek views of residents, businesses, developers, parish councils and any other interested parties on changes that were proposed during the public examination of the plan. Changes include suggested amendments put forward by the independent inspector as well as others that were discussed during the examination sessions that took place in January and April this year.
During the meeting, Cllr. Sebastian Lowe, Rugby Borough Council portfolio holder for Growth and Investment took questions from opposition members and encouraged them to take part in the consultation. 11 members of the public attended the meeting to watch the proceedings.
Cllr. Sebastian Lowe said in a council press statement last week; “Residents and other interested parties have had many opportunities to contribute to the Local Plan, including through the examination hearings held earlier this year. Depending on the inspector’s findings, this formal consultation period may be the last opportunity to influence the Plan so it really is important that residents contribute their thoughts on the changes that have been proposed."
