Portfolio Holder for Growth and Investment Councillor Seb Lowe helped launch this years Festival of Culture which he described as a 'fantastic three weeks of art, music, theatre, heritage and food and drink.'
Cllr. Lowe announced that this years theme is people and place. He said in his launch speech, "This festival offers us all the opportunity to celebrate and enjoy our town, and appreciate all the activities and opportunities it offers. Since being asked to take on the role of Portfolio Holder for Growth and Investment a couple of weeks ago, I have made it very clear that one of my top priorities will be working to promote our town centre as the vibrant social and business centre we know it is. And so it is fantastic to see that we are able to offer the people of this borough something like this Festival of Culture."
Cllr. Lowe went on to thank all the groups, organisations and individuals who have worked tirelessly to bring about the festival before concluding, "As some of you may know, I am relatively new to this town, however one of the things I have always loved about Rugby is the very strong sense of community and civic pride which is one of the hallmarks of our town. I can think of few stronger examples of this sense of community than this festival of culture, which is an opportunity for us all to enjoy many of the fantastic attractions which Rugby has to offer. So a big thank you to you all – and please join me in enjoying our Festival."
Rugby Festival of Culture runs from Sunday 24 June to Sunday 15 July. To see listings and the event calendar online, visit: https://www.therugbytown.co.uk/festivalofculture
