ITV Central Newsroom have welcomed Anthea McIntyre MEP to their studios in Birmingham City Centre. Anthea was given a guided tour of the studio by Mike Dolan (Programme & Digital Editor), Jane Luca (Controller – External Affairs) and Jessica Thrift (Senior Manager – Public Affairs). During the tour Anthea had a go at presenting the weather bulletin in a studio and was given helpful techniques by journalist and weather presenter, Genelle Aldred.
Anthea said “I was delighted to be invited to the ITV studios in Birmingham and to see at first hand the collaboration of highly experienced professionals getting out the news to the viewers.
“It was also good to discuss areas of concern including the Digital Single Market (DSM). The European Commission is right to focus much of its attention on breaking down barriers and removing unnecessary red tape. However, the ECR Policy Group on the DSM proposed a series of suggestions for inclusion in the Commission’s paper, many of which have been taken up.
"I look forward to working with organisations like ITV to obtain the right balance and what is best for the UK and their industry with the huge potential to boost growth and create jobs.”
