Conservative Leader of Rugby Borough Council, Cllr. Michael Stokes said, "Congratulations to Coventry! A fantastic achievement in recognition of all the hard work. An achievement that will benefit the whole region! "
Cllr. Michael Stokes recently attended the Coventry City of Culture Trust meeting (the organisation behind the city’s bid for the title). Delegates at the meeting heard about the potential “ripple effect” for the region’s economy and tourism as well as how it could bring cultural and social benefits to the whole region, including Rugby. Businesses from across the county were also encouraged to pledge their support in order to help Coventry – which was up against Paisley, Stoke, Sunderland and Swansea.
