Rugby Conservative County Councillors, Helen Walton and Carolyn Robbins have successfully secured £30,000 of funding for much needed traffic calming measures on Campion Way in Boughton Vale and a further £30,000 on Newbold Road in Newbold.
Now that funding has been secured and is in place, Warwickshire County Council will consult with local residents and look at the best scheme for the area, by taking in to account the money which is available. It is expected that calming measures will be introduced in early 2013.
Rugby MP, Mark Pawsey commented: "Thanks to the hard work put in by our Conservative County Councillors, I am delighted that traffic calming measures will be introduced in the Boughton Vale and Newbold areas of Rugby. This is great for everyone living in these areas and will go a long way to making our local roads much safer.
"Listening to the views of local people and then acting on those, can, and does, make a huge difference. Sometimes it takes a frustratingly long time to reach a successful conclusion, but by working together as a team, positive results such as funding for traffic calming, can be achieved."
