Parkfield Quarry is finally being restored in a scheme promoted by Cemex and approved by Warwickshire County Council in February.

Dave Peers, Community Campaigner, commented “This is a great use of a site that is effectively derelict and dangerous. I really welcome this work and although it will take a while to complete, Cemex have been open about wanting to consult with local residents”.

Over the next few years, inert materials will be imported into the site via train and the quarry will gradually be filled up and become parkland, with the public footpaths also being restored.

Dave Peers, "Cemex have agreed to set up a residents group with a key point of contact, so that any residents who have any problems with the work can get in touch with them directly. There is a lot of work to do initially to clear the ground and empty the water in the quarry. The use of the old railway siding to bring the materials in means that there will not be hundreds of lorries arriving on site each day. The materials will be coming from major engineering works occurring elsewhere in the country. It is anticipated to take up to 6 years to complete."
