On Thursday night, Mark Pawsey was elected as the Conservative MP for Rugby and Bulkington, with a majority of 6,000 votes. This was a great result for Mark and his team, many of whom have worked very hard to see this achieved. With a swing of nearly 9% to the Conservatives, he did better than the national average.
Mark was quick to thank everyone who helped with the campaign.
Rugby Conservatives also enjoyed good results in the council elections and gained the seat of Dunchurch and Knightlow, while holding on to all existing seats.
Mark said: "I am very glad to be elected as the Member of Parliament for Rugby and Bulkington, and I would like to thank everyone who helped me. It will be my honour to represent all the people of my local area in Parliament and I hope that I can do this."
Mark continued: "The result of the 2010 General Election has been a great success for the Conservative Party and a good result for the country. We need to make the most of this opportunity and to bring the change that the country needs in government, society and our economy."
