Local MP Mark Pawsey has praised the announcment that Rugby Borough Council will freeze Council Tax for the third year running in spite of a cut in the funding that the council will receive from the Government.
Mark said:
“I am delighted that Conservative led Rugby Borough Council has been able to announce that they will not be raising Council tax for the third year in a row. It’s clear that they are doing an excellent job of making improvements to services whilst cutting costs for residents, and I am sure that this will be welcomed by the people of Rugby.”
He continued:
“Rugby residents will be pleased that a careful calculation of finances has resulted in no increase, despite the announcement of clear plans for funding for improvements over the coming year.”
Planned improvements include the new leisure centre (subject to planning approval), assistance for first-time buyers to get onto the property ladder, a three-month trial for free parking at weekends at a town centre car park, business grants for the town centre, and funding to roll out high-speed broadband to rural areas.
