Conservative led Rugby Borough Council has launched a full public consultation on the future of Hillmorton Recreation Ground.
Hillmorton's borough Councillor Kathryn Lawrence said, “I have worked with officers for the last 10 years on improvements to the skatepark and the children’s play area, as well as installing dog bins and park benches & helping plant bulbs and trees as well as supporting the application to make it a Field in Trust preventing it from development. I helped to draft the consultation questions and look forward to continuing to bring improvements to the area for the benefit of all residents."
The consultation with the local community will help make a decision to either replace the pavilion or develop other facilities, such as play equipment, nature area or an outdoor gym.
The pavilion which was built in the 1960s became a target for vandals. Cllr. Lawrence with fellow borough and county Councillors led a campaign to have the pavilion demolished. This was completed during December last year.
Residents can take part in the consultation online at www.rugby.gov.uk/hillmortonrec
The consultation closes at 5pm on St. Georges Day, Tuesday 23 April.
