A lot of people look forward to the weekends for various reasons writes Councillor Dale Keeling (Admirals & Cawston) 'This weekend I spent Saturday morning volunteering with friends in Coventry, delivering an update leaflet from the West Midlands Mayor Andy Street. Andy does a great job as Mayor for the West Midlands and I enjoy making sure his work is noticed. Then it was back to Cawston to see and report fly tipping on Cawston Lane, just outside the ward but nevertheless an on-going hot-spot that needs to be kept an eye on.’
‘Every Sunday morning, litter picking sessions take place in Cawston between 10am and 11am. The sessions are organised by a Parish Councillor and they are a great way for me to chat to the parish councillors and residents about any issues I can help with, while at the same time making Cawston a cleaner and tidier place. Cawston is also a friendly community and morning dog walkers are happy to spare a few minutes having good old chin wag. This Sunday, Rugby Police were on hand at the Community Centre with bike UV marking kits which chemically etches the coating of a bike frame with a unique Bike Register ID, the marking is invisible unless seen under UV light. Glad to hear that they had helped over 160 bikes across Rugby to be placed on the Bike Register. This also gives me a chance of a face to face chat on any local crime issues that may be happening in the area.’
‘Overall a good 'councillor' weekend, helping in the community, getting to speak to parish councillors, police and local residents on an informal platform.’
