Conservative led Rugby Borough Council has released a press statement announcing plans for a major regeneration of the town centre with the development of an strategic masterplan.
Cllr Simpson-Vince, Rugby Borough Council conservative portfolio holder for growth and investment said in the statement, "Rugby remains one of the fastest growing boroughs in the country and, as a council, we're determined to take the lead when it comes to driving the economic recovery following the pandemic. The Rugby Town Centre Spatial Strategy and its vision for the future has a vital role to play in our recovery plans, and we're keen to work closely with residents, businesses and other stakeholders to push forward with the project."
The plan going forward is to engage widely with residents, businesses and key stakeholders during the development of the strategy to ensure it meets local needs, while conducting detailed analysis of the town centre's current strengths and weaknesses in order to identify opportunities for regeneration and redevelopment.
Consultation will start before the end of this year, with the masterplan scheduled for completion by spring 2021.
