An independent report presented by the Conservative Council Leader Michael Stokes at tonight's Council meeting has recommended that Biart Place be regenerated for the provision of new homes. And to proceed with a redevelopment of the site. This was passed unanimously.
Councillor Michael Stokes thanked officers for their hard work in keeping in touch with residents, he informed fellow Councillors that 97 of the 124 units had already been vacated. He went onto to say, "The site was not up to the usual high standards of Council stock, the best way to go is to demolish and for regeneration of the site." After questions from Councillors on financing, Cllr. Stokes confirmed that "No option will go unexplored when talking to Government ministers." The Leader of the Council went on to thank Mark Pawsey MP for his support in contacting ministers.
Cllr. Emma Crane who seconded the report, said after thanking officers, "Residents were looking forward and that we (RBC) will work with Government ministers to get funding toward what residents want for the site." She added officers will be working closely with residents in this difficult and challenging project.
Rounds Gardens :- At the same meeting Cllr. Stokes thanks officers for their work in regard to Rounds Gardens, keeping officers and local Councillors informed. An investigation is still on-going and a report will be back at the December Council meeting. Cllr. Stokes added during his statement, "On this occasion priority must be the residents."
